Focus on Being Highly Focused

Focus on Being Highly Focused

But First Coffee…

I got up this morning at Coffee O’clock. Now I’m just trying to make it to Refill-Thirty!

I know that time management is something we all struggle with, so this morning I thought I would share my take on an “old school” approach to productivity called the Pomodoro Technique. It was created in the late 1980’s to help achieve maximum focus and creativity in completing assignment, projects or tasks with less stress.
The technique is simple. Choose a task to work on for a block of 25 minutes and then take a 5-minute break. Give yourself a “Check” for every block you complete without any interruptions or note distractions or if you switch tasks. After four work/time blocks, you take a 15-20-minute break.

  • Scoring system is all or nothing
  • Does not always work well in meetings, on calls or drive time
  • It can mask or morph into multi-tasking if not used properly

  • Keeps your mind fresh and recharged for next work/time block
  • Manage distractions
  • Helps you focus on being highly focused!

Many business people struggle to finish assignments or meet deadlines because they treat time as the enemy. More often than not, it’s not a lack of time; it’s a lack of focus.
